Toyota’s Tree service will be the largest electric vehicle delivery service to Japan, and will also be one of the first electric vehicles ever delivered to a country outside of the US.
Up to six electric vehicles will be delivered by Toyota’s Electric Vehicle Service Japan in the first batch of over 100,000 cars.
This includes a variety of EVs like the Lexus RX 350h and Toyota Prius.
The cars will be sold in Japan starting in the middle of next year.
Toyota has announced plans to begin shipping EVs to Japan starting this October.
The service will provide the same level of service and support as an EV owner would have with a Toyota dealer.
The Tree service is also expected to have a significant impact on the Toyota brand, with the Tree service’s Japanese name likely referring to the Tree of Knowledge.
The Tree of Life is the source of the Japanese word “tree,” which is used to describe a tree or shrub.
Toyotas new Electric Vehicle service will also provide an opportunity to test Toyota’s EV-charging technology.
The company has said it plans to deploy charging stations on existing electric vehicles at the beginning of next month, as well as on some future models.
